Attempts to isolate the Internet have not been accomplished, and its cyberattack potential has proven to be limited, as demonstrated by the hostilities in Ukraine. However, so far Russia has only achieved practical success with the use of the latter. These strategies include cyberattacks against unfriendly nations, isolating the Internet in certain areas from the outside world, and astroturfing - promoting fake or propaganda content on social media to imitate genuine public opinion. The release of an extensive archive of documents from Vulkan, a company that develops software for cyber operations for the Russian Ministry of Defence, the FSB, and the Foreign Intelligence Service, has revealed the main strategic directions of Russia's future cyber aggression. ![]()
